For those of us that are Fast Food Achievers, we know that sometimes the service at QSRs - Quick Service Restaurants leaves a lot to be desired and yet when you are on the go - sometimes that is all that is available before your body goes on a hunger strike. You can just imagine how hard it must be to get quality labor at a fast food restaurant, considering how hard it is to find good workers in your current work environment.
Today, I happened into a Taco Bell and ordered a Burrito Supreme, double wrapped, with extra cheese, guacamole and onions. The young gal looked up to me and suggestive sold me an "Extra Large Drink" to go with it. Considering the problems of Global Warming, I did not want to overheat in traffic and definitely needed some extra high-fructose corn syrup. Yes, I am an American, could you tell?
Luckily, the high-energy, big smile employee was a "Food Champion" named Melissa. I thought, wow, no wonder the service was so good, this gal was a Food Champion no doubt. Excellent indeed. So, I said; You are a Food Champion?" and she said; "I AM" with an even bigger smile.
I then asked another girl between the stainless steal taco bell making slide table and the drive thru station if she was a Food Champion too? She said; "No, I am just the manager." Wow what a great attitude at that Taco Bell. I think I will be choosing Taco Bell next time I am starved with no time to spare. Apparently, Taco Bell has cracked the code on employee motivation, they have empowered their frontline by turning them into trained food champions - Now everyone is a winner at Taco Bell.
